Webnames.ca 2015: Year in Review

A message from Cybele Negris, Webnames.ca CEO and Co-Founder

2015 has been another phenomenal year for Webnames.ca.  In addition to celebrating our 15th anniversary, Webnames.ca successfully launched numerous new products and services for our customers. As we approach 2016, we anticipate more innovation and upgrades and seamless continuation of our renowned customer service to support you and your online endeavors.

I take this opportunity to thank you, our valued customers, for your on-going support and for putting your trust in us for 15 years. On behalf of everyone here at Webnames.ca, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season and enormous success in 2016!

Please see below for some of our key highlights this year.

Webnames.ca 15th Anniversary

Back in 1987, Webnames.ca co-founder John Demco never imagined the .CA domain would be as pervasive as it is today. From conceiving and managing the .CA domain extension until 2000 in his office at the University of British Columbia to surpassing 2.4 million domain names in 2015, .CA is the online identity for all Canadians and Canadian businesses.

New Domain Search Page and New Domain Extensions

On the the heels of our website overhaul project, we relaunched a new domain search page to make it easier to find domains. On the new search page, you can add specific filters to your results, export them and share them with colleagues with the click of a button.

In addition, we now offer more than 500 domain extensions! With the launch of the new generic Top level domains two years ago, Webnames.ca has seen huge adoption of these new extensions globally. From industry specific domains like law, .tech, .consulting and .construction, to generic domains like .ninja, .website and .xyz, the list of available domains continue to grow. For businesses and individuals, this means that new branding opportunities will emerge while providing more flexibility online.

Anycast DNS

An affordable enterprise-level solution for even small businesses, Anycast DNS was launched on June 1st, 2015 to provide businesses with reliability, performance and DDoS mitigation. Utilizing a global network to strengthen the DNS infrastructure, Anycast DNS immediately provides the benefit of faster page-load speeds, increased traffic capacity and resiliency against distributed denial of service attacks at the DNS level. Today, both small and large businesses have already begun embracing this new technology to enhance their online presence.

Username.Social

One of the most important aspects for every business is branding and with the growing list of available online platforms, protecting your brand can be challenging. With that in mind, we launched our Username.Social tool early this year to streamline the process of finding and protecting your brand across multiple social media platforms.

DigitalSafe

With numerous data breaches and online leaks around the globe, security concerns are at an all time high. While most experts advise creating long and complex passwords, it just isn’t feasible for anyone that logs into multiple accounts each day to remember all those passwords. With that in mind, Webnames.ca has partnered with DigitalSafe to provide a password manager to generate and store important login information and sensitive data.
