The Canadian Internet Registration Authority is a member-based not-for-profit organization, best known for managing the .CA domain on behalf of all Canadians. Webnames has long had a close relationship with CIRA as the original registrar of the .CA domain and we understand the importance of good governance, transparency and diversity of experience in the ongoing work of building a trusted Internet for Canadians. CIRA are building programs, products and services that leverage all the internet has to offer towards this end. CIRA also develops and implements policies that support Canada’s internet community and represents the .CA registry internationally.

The role of the nomination committee
The committee’s role is vital in ensuring that CIRA members have a slate of qualified candidates from which they will elect board directors. Committee members evaluate applicants and select qualified candidates who represent a wide range of views and interests to appear on the nomination committee slate of the final election ballot.
The skills and experience needed on the committee
CIRA is seeking Canadians who:
- have experience identifying and selecting superior candidates
- understand the experiences of a diverse range of industry sectors
- have knowledge of corporate governance (mandatory)
- have an interest in supporting the development of the internet in Canada
- are available to serve two years and commit up to five days for candidate review and selection (depending on the number of applications received)
Candidates applying to become a member of the nomination committee must be available to meet in-person in Ottawa on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
