Don’t wait until the last minute to submit your .ASIA domains. Landrush closes on March 12 (check out the cool countdown ticker on the right).
They’ve come up with a new and novel way of registering conflicting domains. Domains that have more than one person that try to register them automatically go to auction. It’s up to you what you pay for them. If you check out this page, it will give you an idea of what domains are coming up for auction and how much people are paying for them. As of right now, the only domains that have gone up for auction are the Sunrise domains, so expect to see a lot steeper prices than the current record holder, ace.asia for $20 000 when the general landrush domains go up for sale. How much they will go for, we really don’t know. We’re not expecting to see domains sell for millions as in the case of .com domains, but certainly a few hundred thousand is definitely is possible.
There is expected to be over 300 000 domain applications for the registrations on the first day of Landrush. There were over 30 000 applications for Sunrise, so .asia is proving to be a popular TLD. With over 60% of the Internet users located in Asia, this one is sure to see growth from year to year.
This is also a good opportunity to get in on some of the more popular domains to hold on to or sell. Considering that all domains pre-booked during land rush are treated as being received by the registrar at the same time, this is a great chance to get in on a few auctions and get some of the more desired domains. Come prepared to bid though, the most popular domains won’t be going cheap.
