Nominet Consults on Domain Industry Self-Regulation – Nominet, the registry for the .uk domain, is running a consultation and holding a series of open meetings on “potential changes to the self-regulation model of the domain name industry in the UK.” The consultation follows a recent independent governance review which concluded that public intervention and external regulation is a possibility.
New Domain Registries Reach Milestones – The .me domain for Montenegro has hit 250,000 registrations, and the new .tel domain has reached 200,000 registrations. The .me domain was launched just over one year ago, and the .tel domain was launched for trademark holders last December and has been generally available for two months.
