Internationalized Domain Names To Be Supported Under .EU – The European Commission has amended the rules for the .eu domain to allow the use of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs). They are to be available later this year.

.SE Registry Supports External Projects – The registry for Sweden’s .se domain has announced financial support for 13 non-commercial projects, and is planning to allocate 5 million Swedish crowns in 2009. Applications for additional projects are being accepted until September 13.

Rod Beckstrom Appointed As New ICANN CEO – During the ICANN meetings in Sydney, Australia, Rod Beckstrom was named as the organization’s new CEO. Formerly Beckstrom was Director of the U.S. National Cybersecurity Center.
