As a member of the board of BC’s Small Business Roundtable, I’m delighted to announce that eight communities who champion small businesses will be celebrated for the second annual B.C.’s Most Small Business Friendly Community Award. The award is organized by the Roundtable which is Co-chaired by Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Pat Bell and Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Kevin Krueger. The roundtable consults with the small business community and provides recommendations to government on issues, strategies and potential actions to support B.C.’s small businesses.
Winners of the award will be the community which best demonstrate the following achievements:
• Reducing regulatory barriers.
• Enhancing small business competitiveness.
• Recognizing small business’ contribution to their community.
• Supporting climate action initiatives, which benefit small business.
The deadline for submissions is Saturday, June 30, 2012. Up to three finalists per region will be chosen by August 2012 and winners announced in October during Small Business Month.
Last year’s Most Small Business Friendly Community award winners were Kamloops, Ladysmith, Prince Rupert, Quesnel, Rossland and Surrey
