If you’re not a trademark owner, the best way to affordably register the domain name you want is through our Pre-Order system. When you Pre-Order for the domain name you want, we will try and register it on your behalf the moment it becomes available. Pre-Ordering is free, so you’ll only be charged when we successfully register the domain name for you.
Another option you have – and if you are really eager to start using a new domain name – is to participate in the Early Access Program or EAP. The EAP, as its name suggests, allows you to get early access to the domain name that you want.
What sets it apart from the general availability and Sunrise is that it features a unique pricing structure – the price to register a domain name becomes lower as the domain gets closer to it’s release date. So on Day One of the EAP, a domain name can cost as much as US $12,000 while on day seven (the last day) it can cost as little as US $115.
To help you visualize EAP pricing, we’ve put together a small graphic below:

The Early Access Program and Pre-Orders
The cool feature of the EAP is that you can Pre-Order your domain name for the specific EAP Day that you want – i.e. you can specify if you want to pre-order for EAP Day One or EAP Day Seven.
Since the EAP follows a first come, first serve model, Pre-Ordering will help increase the chance of securing the domain you want.
Note that the price shown below is in Canadian dollars and is based on the current exchange rate.

To illustrate how Pre-Orders work, let’s say I’d like to register neillim.marketing. I’d rather not pay CAD $13,000 for my domain name, BUT I’m willing to register my domain on day five which will cost me CAD $196 – this includes the price of the domain name and the one-time only early access fee.
I start by searching for neillim.marketing and then select to Pre-Order for EAP Day Five. After that, I just proceed to the shopping cart to confirm my Pre-Order. It’s as simple as that and all I have to do now is wait for the .MARKETING extension to begin its EAP.
When the domain begins its EAP (and if no one else has registered it on EAP Days One through Four) Webnames.ca will submit my registration request on EAP Day Five. If my order is successful, I get neillim.marketing and can immediately start using it for myself.
