New gTLD Application System Still Down – ICANN has announced that it is unable to provide a specific date for reopening the TLD Application System (TAS). They have indicated that an update will be provided no later than April 27, and that when the system is reopened it will be kept open for at least five business days. The system was taken down due to a technical problem on April 12, less than a day before the application period for new gTLDs was scheduled to close. An FAQ has been posted.
CIRA 2012 Nomination Committee Announced – CIRA has announced its Nomination Committee members for 2012. The Nomination Committee “plays a critical role in soliciting and selecting qualified Candidates for the Nomination Committee Slate of CIRA’s Board of Directors Election.” New and re-appointed members are Tim Denton, Michael Hrybyk, Colleen Arnold, Rochelle Grayson, and Stuart MacDonald. Continuing members are Bill Graham, Michel Lamontagne, Len St-Aubin, Debi Rosati, Andrew Sullivan, and Heather Dryden (ex-officio member appointed by the Government of Canada).
