Members of US Congress Seek Permanent ICANN Relationship – With the Joint Project Agreement (JPA) between the United States and ICANN expiring on September 30, some members of the US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce have written to the US Commerce Secretary calling for a “permanent instrument” to replace the JPA. According to the letter: “This statement of commitments and principles would ensure that ICANN remains perpetually accountable to the public and to all of its global stakeholders.”

ICANN Study: No Evidence of Front Running – A study commissioned by ICANN to assess the occurrence of domain name front running has found no current evidence of the practice. Front running is the preemptive registration of a domain name based on insider information, in particular the knowledge that a user has checked on the availability of that domain name.
