The Scottish Government has set up a working group with the aim of creating a top-level domain .scot or .sco for the worldwide family of Scots.
ICANN is holding two open meetings to explore the recent report on gTLD registries and registrars, which discusses the possibility of relaxing the requirement for the separation of gTLD registries and registrars. The first meeting was held on December 11, and a recording [MP3] is available. The second is scheduled for December 19. Participation, either in person or remote, is via RSVP.
ICANN’s Country-Code Name Supporting Organization (ccNSO) has posted a report on nominations and elections to the ccNSO Council, effective as of the end of the Mexico meeting in March, 2009. Among the incoming council members is Byron Holland, President and CEO of CIRA.
