Nominet Foundation Created – Nominet, the registry for the .uk domain, has created the Nominet Foundation, “a charitable organisation that will fund education, research and development initiatives in the UK Internet industry.” The Foundation is expected to receive a first year donation of 5 million pounds, and projects will be invited to seek funding at a later date.

ICANN To Consider Improvements in Dispute Resolution – ICANN has posted for public notice a paper outlining possible improvements in its dispute resolution mechanisms. Two of the possible improvements include: “a mechanism for the community to ask the Board to reconsider a decision,” and, importantly, “a mechanism to dissolve and reconstitute the Board should it engage in unethical or other misbehavior.”
