- VeriSign has published its quarterly Domain Name Industry Brief. The number of domain name registrations has grown to 162 million, a 26% annual increase.
- A number of ICANN-controlled domains including icann.com and iana.com were hijacked and redirected briefly on June 26. ICANN has issued a report on the problem.
- Patches have been rolled out to fix a serious DNS flaw.
- China’s .cn domain has surpassed Germany’s .de domain to become the largest ccTLD.
- The Netherlands’ .nl domain has reached three million registrations.
- Spain’s .es domain has passed the one million domain mark.
- The .me domain is set to commence first-come first-served registrations on July 17.
- The forthcoming .tel registry has announced its launch timeline.
- Nominet, the .uk registry, has launched an ENUM testbed.
