Top-Level Domain Application System Closes; More Than 1900 Submitted – On May 30, when ICANN closed the system for new gTLD applications, just over 1900 applications had been submitted. The announcement of applied-for domain names, known as “Reveal Day”, is scheduled for June 13, and a list of other events has been published.

Some organizations have begun to publicize their TLD applications. Here are a
few:

  • ARI Registry Services is supporting 161 applications: 85 generic, 70 brand, and 6 geographic TLDs.
  • Top Level Domain Holdings has submitted 92 applications on behalf of clients and its own account.
  • Directi Group has applied for 31 top-level domain names.
  • Google’s applications include .google, .docs, .youtube, and .lol.
  • Momentous Corp. has applied for .design, .style, .rip, and .sucks.
  • GoDaddy has reportedly applied for .godaddy, .home, and .casa.
  • Web.com has applied for .web.

  • The deadline for applications to the CIRA Nomination Committee is June 8. The Nomination Committee selects candidates to run in the 2012 CIRA Board of Directors for three Director positions. Member nominations to compete for a fourth Board seat open on July 31.
  • CIRA has announced the 2012 .CA Impact Award winners.
  • A proposal has been made to allow .NZ domain names to be registered at the second level.
