ICANN will soon release a draft applicant guidebook for new gTLDs.

A judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit by the State of Kentucky seeking control of 141 domain names related to online gambling sites. Arguments will be heard on November 17. The judge indicated that online casinos that don’t geographically block access to their sites from Kentucky could be ordered to forfeit their domain names.

The U.S. Department of Commerce is seeking public comments regarding the deployment of DNSSEC into the DNS infrastructure including the root zone. Comments are due by November 24. Both VeriSign and ICANN have published proposals to sign the root zone.

Cameroon’s .cm domain is opening the second-level domains com.cm, net.cm, and co.cm for public registration.

Domainer Kevin Ham has won the Technology category, Pacific region Canada, in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year competition.

The minutes of the September 9, 2008 meeting of the CIRA Board of Directors have been published.

Paul Andersen has been appointed as Chair of CIRA’s Board of Directors. Lynne Mackan-Roy has been appointed as Vice-Chair.
