.UK Registry Raises 7 Million GBP For Nominet Trust – Nominet, registry for the .uk domain, is donating 7 million GBP to Nominet Trust, a UK registered charity. Registry operations represent 4 million GBP of the total, with the remaining 3 million GBP being the proceeds from the release of 2831 previously reserved short domains under .uk. Nominet Trust focuses on “UK-based initiatives that contribute to a safe, accessible Internet used to improve lives and communities” and each year makes “a small number of investments in international projects which align with our areas of focus”.
