Here are a few suggestions to get 2009 off to a well-organized and productive start.
- Ensure Contact Information is current and that you have your login details (username and passwords). This is the perfect time to get all that in order. Perhaps it is also a good time to update your logins for added security.
You may even want to store all your passwords somewhere safe. You can try Password Safe, which allows you to store them all under one single username and password. If you can remember that one password, you can rest at ease. Don’t be shy to your service provider for help.
- Make a New Calendar or list of upcoming bills, events, renewals or even possible purchases and registrations. We use Outlook “Tasks” which is available in everyone’s Outlook, but many are afraid of taking it on. It really is an awesome tool that everyone should learn.
If not, come up with a system. It may take a bit of time to figure it out, but will make the New Year feel so much less overwhelming. It’s also a great way to jot ideas and goals so you can think them over when life is less busy. As well, how about a thank you list, so you can eventually thank the gems you deal with from day to day.
If you’re a visual, as I am, free printable calendars can be found online as well to neatly and clearly layout your tasks to conquer.
- Review your lot. Are there any new domain name variations you might benefit from? Is it time to freshen up or even change services? And if so how can you transition smoothly? Perhaps there are questions you haven’t even thought to ask yourself. Perhaps taking a poll at your office can help determine that. Can you benefit from a blog? Are you using your company name as an email address? Have you submitted your content to the search engines? Are your keywords really making you stand out and has that changed since the last year?
It may even be a great Idea to go to all your merchant’s websites and see if there is anything new you might have missed over the last year. Look under Services, and peruse the blogs for interesting titles. Perhaps it’s a great time to look up those businesses at the BBB (Better Business Bureau)
And are you ready for the next year? If you can say yes, you will have a great year of being in charge of your success or that of your company’s.
