There has been a proliferation of dot TEL articles and client alerts appearing on blogs, web sites and newsletters of law firms and intellectual property firms over the past weeks.
With Sunrise Registration for trademark holders beginning December 3, trademark holders have just one week remaining to pre-book their trademark names. “One of the reasons we’ve been doing such a brisk business with trademark holders and agents during the pre-booking period, is the first come first served rule.” says Webnames.ca Managed Services representative, Michael Maan. “While the Sunrise Registration period runs for a full two months from December 3, 2008 to February 2, 2009, many organizations have been pre-booking to ensure their submissions are first in the queue.”
“We’ve also been doing a large number of briefing sessions for major firms to bring their IP teams up to speed and answer their questions about dot TEL”, he continues. “Generally we’re finding that most people have a good grasp of the basics and understand how dot TEL is different from other domains. Most of the questions concern issues around the Sunrise rules for submission and details such as the reconsideration period.”
