Telnic the brains behind the .Tel domain name, is allowing end users to populate the NAPTR, TXT and LOC records of the DNS.
The LOC record is particularly interesting. It was proposed in 1996 as an experimental protocol to get a visual track back of packets and ultimately lead you to the physical location of the server that sent the packets. The LOC record can contain longitude, latitude and altitude information.
If I am Bob Smith and I get bobsmith.tel, I can type in my longitude and latitude into the location field and anyone with a GPS enabled phone would be able to find my physical location through the use of Google maps.
Short of having a Garmin strapped around your neck, how do you know what is the longitude and latitude of your location?
Google maps to the rescue again. Type in your street and city address. When it pops up on the map, put this string into the address bar of the browser and hit enter.
javascript:void(prompt(”,gApplication.getMap().getCenter()));
Google returns with a pop up of the longitude and latitude of your location (or in this case Caesars Palace in Las Vegas).
But what has this got to do with Foreclosures.Tel?
Imagine you are in the market to buy a house cheap. It’s a Saturday and you want to have a drive by of all the houses that are being foreclosed upon.
You could do an internet search for foreclosure sites. Then scroll through their listings and write down the addresses of the houses you want to see. Then keep your map book handy as you drive from house to house.
.Tel shows us a better way. Every .Tel lets you have limitless subdomains. So you could have 1233PeachAve.foreclosures.Tel and 5577MainDr.foreclosures.Tel and so on.
On an internet/GPS enabled phone you can type in Foreclosures.Tel, scroll through the list of addresses, click on an address and the location of the house appears on the map. You drive around the rest of the day seeing the most up to date listings of houses under foreclosure.
I would approach all the real estate companies and sell them the Foreclosures.Tel service. Charge them $1 a day per house. You merely have to add the house as a subdomain, input the location information and you are done. No website to maintain, no pictures to upload. It’s simple and fast.
The location record – the possibilities are endless.

Also, if you give you business card or sizzle card to a stranger and they look your business up online, the first thing they will do is type in the main domain (www. xyzbusiness. com) without your ID just out of curiosity. Don’ t lose sales and your credibility because of this– register a domain name and have it forwarded to your replicated company website.
