Let’s face it, most small businesses only have one domain name. While we advocate registering different variation of your domain name so that no one can steal your brand’s identity online, it can feel like a waste knowing that the new domain name you registered isn’t doing anything to promote your business or drive more traffic to your website.
Fortunately, all Webnames.ca domain names come with a powerful feature called Domain Forwarding.
By applying Domain Forwarding. you can use your new domain name as a custom URL that your friends, colleagues, partners and customers can use to quickly find specific pages on your website or your business’ social media profiles.
Domain Forwarding is also easy to apply and you can start setting up a custom URL in just 5 minutes. Here’s how to do it:
1. On the Domain Management screen, click on the domain name that you want to use.
2. Once you have selected the domain name that you want to use, all you have to do is click on the ‘Apply Domain Forwarding’ option on the Domain Management screen and click on configure.
3. Now, let’s set up MyNewDomain.Rocks to forward people to the Webnames.ca Facebook page. Simply type in your Facebook Page’s URL – you can type this in manually or you can just copy and paste it onto the field. Once that’s done, don’t forget to click on “Apply” at the bottom of the page.
(Optional) 4. If you hate the fact that your custom domain name switches back to the URL Facebook gives your Business Page, you can apply Domain Gripping to it. Just go back to the Domain Forwarding page, click Domain Gripping and hit Apply.
