The 5th annual Northern Voice non-profit personal blogging and social media conference is being held February 20-21, 2009 at UBC. This is Webnames.ca’s third time sponsoring the event, and we’re thrilled to be involved!
Before you get too excited, I’m sad to report that the Saturday blogging conference is already sold out. If you are attending, isn’t the seminar and speaker line-up gold? CBC’s Nora Young, former host of Definitely Not the Opera and current host of Spark, is delivering one of the two keynotes along with Rob Cottingham, President of Social Signal. Also representing in force is the local blogging community. The seminars are varied and include “Then and Now … Citizen Media and The Olympics,” “Passionately local – blogging about your own backyard,” and “Social Media Mores for the Modern Couple.” Clearly, something for everyone.
Don’t fret that Saturday’s sold out – if the subject matter is up your alley, tickets are still available for Friday’s “Moose Camp” where “you can give a presentation, lead a discussion, or just attend.”
Already on the Moose Camp itinerary: a Keynote by Stuart Butterfield, co-founder of the photo sharing website Flickr, and presentations such as “The Blog Advantage: How Blogs Work Behind the Scenes” and “Twitter, Yammer, and More: Bite-size Blogging”. But listen up – tickets are almost sold out for Friday too, so if you want to register, hop to it already!
