Webnames.ca President, Stephen Smith spoke yesterday to members of the Domain Names & Trademarks on the Internet Committee as an invited speaker at the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada conference in Toronto.
Mr Smith spoke to members of the committee for an hour about .TEL and it’s importance to trademark holders including the rules and policies around Sunrise registration. Mr Smith was invited to speak to the committee after submitting the Webnames.ca .TEL Briefing Paper for Trademark Holders and Agents.
“The .TEL is just beginning to make it onto the radar of trademark agents”, said Mr Smith from the conference. “Many members of the committee had heard about .TEL, but hadn’t realized how different it is from previous domain names or why it is so significant to trademark holders.”
“Members were quick to understand the concepts behind .TEL and most of the questions revolved around details of Sunrise Registration, the validation process, security issues and management of multiple trademarks”

Of course, you can always change your name (though not that easily) , but typically the name you’re born with, is the name your stuck with.
