Vancouver Twestival is Tonight! Proceeds to Charity:Water

If you are from Vancouver and on Twitter, you already know this city is no slouch when it comes to microblogging.

Tonnes of Vancouver personalities, organizations, businesses and media are active on Twitter. Over the past two years several “Tweetups” have been held in the Lower Mainland, with local firms creating hugely successful Twitter toolboxes and plugins such as HootSuite (formerly known as BrightKit).

Vancouver is one of approximately 175 cities taking part in tonight’s Twestival. In addition to getting together with local Twitter personalities, tonight’s meet-up is raising money for a very important cause – charity:water.

Twestival has been organized by volunteers around the world and 100% of the money raised from the global Twestival events will go to support charity:water projects. If you can’t make it to the event, you can support charity:water by donating on the Vancouver Twestival website; enter your Twitter username and password and have your donation tweeted out to your social network.

By rallying together globally, under short timescales, for a single aim on the same day, the Twestival hopes to bring awareness to this global crisis. Read more about charity:water and their projects that aim to bring clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

  1. What a great event! I had a great time meeting new, and reconnect with friends. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people there, and the amount of money raised. Big thanks to @miss604 and @opushotel for making this tweetup a huge success.
