We are currently holding a post-holiday computer equipment drive for the Vancouver computer recycling charity, FreeGeek. FreeGeek is a nonprofit community organisation that reduces the environmental impact of waste electronics by reusing and recycling donated technology.
January is a good month as lots of people have upgraded their equipment over the holidays and need a new home for their old stuff. Also, Webnames.ca is moving to a new office and will be passing along all equipment that we no longer need.
If you are in the Gastown area over the next week, feel free to drop off your old computer equipment at our office and we’ll take care of getting it over to FreeGeek.
The following computer equipment and monitors are accepted, in any condition, working or not:
• Computers – working or non-working
• Laptops
• Printers
• Scanners
• Keyboards and Mice
• Fax Machines
• External Modems
• Motherboards and accessory cards
• Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS)
• Computer cables
• Cell Phones
• Game Consoles, Cartridges and Accessories(Atari, Nintendo, Sega, etc)
• CRT Monitors
• CPU/CRT combos (like iMacs)
• LCD Monitors
That is a good campaign in connection with the Earth Day. Recycling computer equipment would save tons of tons of garbage in the dump sites. This would somehow lessen the pollution it gives to the nature. More often this used equipments are sold to other countries more on the developing countries as they can still use this computers for important jobs and school stuff.
