Webnames.ca has launched an
advertising campaign in Business in Vancouver that will be running from
September 2012 until August 2013. When we were considering a campaign
with BIV, we started to think about who we are and what makes Webnames,
well, Webnames! Immediately we thought about our customers!
We have built our business and our reputation on our #1 core value
of “amaze every customer with exceptional service.” Our customers are
always giving us their feedback and we decided to take their experiences
and share them with the rest of the business community here in
Vancouver. We thought this was a great opportunity to share stories
about our customers, to highlight their personalities and businesses and
the great things they are doing.
Webnames.ca is excited to
launch the fifth installment of our ad campaign in Business in
Vancouver, featuring David Labistour, President and CEO of Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC).
David brings both passion for outdoor adventure and extensive retail business experience to MEC. Over the past 25 years he has worked with companies such as Adidas, Marks and Spencer’s affiliate in South Africa, and Aritzia in Canada. David was the first CEO to be hired from within MEC, and in his former capacity as senior manager of Buying and Design he was instrumental in leading the renaissance of MEC-brand products as well as several product sustainability initiatives. David presently sits on the Outdoor Foundation Board and the Outdoor Industry Association Board. A former competitive windsurfer, David takes any opportunity to stay fit by going to Crossfit, backcountry skiing, mountain biking, kite-surfing, and by snowboarding with his two sons.

The Campaign and Social Media
As we highlight a new
organization or business each month, we will also be giving you a behind
the scenes look at almost all of the photo shoots we did with each
participant with our amazing photographers, Adam and Kev Photography.
Most of the ads will have a QR code that will take you straight to the
Webnames.ca Facebook page where you can see the photos as they were
being taken and who we have coming up next in our monthly ad series.
There will also be opportunity to take a look at a few of the
photographs from the shoot and attempt to guess which photo we decided
to use for each participant!
We will also be sharing facts and
achievements about each organization or business throughout the month.
You can follow by watching hashtag #WNFRIENDS on Twitter!
We had a lot of fun planning this campaign and had a great time at the studio with Adam and Kev! A big thank you to everyone who was involved. We look forward to getting your feedback on the ads as they come out each month.
Here’s David Labistour in our awesome BIV photo shoot! Which photo do you think we picked?
About MEC
Before MEC was established, climbers had to cross the border into Seattle just to buy their gear. The idea of making gear available in Canada surfaced on a trip to Mount Baker in the summer of 1970. A group of four climbers, socked in at the base of the glacier, had nothing to do but sit in their tent and talk. Through the weekend, the talk of opening a gear store crystalized into a commitment to start something like REI (Seattle-based company that sold climbing equipment) in Canada, a co-op with low mark-up, which operated with democratic principles.
Fueled by members who believed in being part of a co-operative enterprise, MEC thrived, and continues to demonstrate the best of what business can be in our society.
